The United States-based firm Lyft might be wishing to alter this by testing scheduled rides in Bay Area.
The soon-to-launch trial allows riders to reserve a vehicle as much as 24-hrs ahead of time, as being a traditional taxi run.
“Whether you possess an early-morning flight and want to get towards the airport terminal and have a make-or-break business meeting mix-town, scheduled rides can get you out of the door and off and away to your destination at the specified pickup time,” the organization states on its official blog.
To plan a ride, users can tap the time icon and choose a preferred time.
Users may also be in a position to cancel the rides as much as half an hour before they’re scheduled to become selected up, if plans change.
The feature is placed to unveil in additional areas this summer time.
Adding scheduled rides is not likely to impress traditional taxi firms, who’s last bastion of convenience looks set to become easily wiped out.
